Sitting on my couch in my home as my man sits across the room in his chair.
Scrolling thru Facebook & come across a post made by a friend.
“Chuckle…how much fun “she” is having ” I said aloud.
I then showed my man my friend doing yoga .
She certainly looked like she was having a lot of fun.
“Why not sign up & go do it to ” my man said.
“Not a chance” I replied.
At this time in my life over two years ago now I was not in a good place emotionally.
Recently had lost my dad & many very difficult issues.
Awaiting to get appointment with my surgeon who was to do back surgery .
My neck was immobile & I would body turn to move as so much pain.Shoulders right up to my ears holing so much tension in my body.
Panic attacks were frequent as well as suffering from menopause & hot flashes that are a whole complete magical in their own..NOT. hahah.
Sleep was a high commodity.
Everyday no ambition & forced smiles at work & in my daily life.
Here I am in a good relationship & security & was so unhappy.Worked at a job that I liked and for a great boss..but still very unsettled.
Few days went by & once again my man mentions I should “Go check that out why don’t ya”
Few more days passed & I messaged my friend & asked her about what she was doing.She assured me it was not a big crowd & I stepped way out of my comfort zone & found myself walking up the stairs to the studio the next evening.
Anxiety ,thru the roof.Haha.The expectations I had set on myself to do a perfect pose & my insecurities of my weight,self judgement was on high mode.Haha
Also,nervous of back & neck.
Each practise became less stressful for me to go to.
After a few weeks of 3 practices a week the anxiety was disappearing.
Let’s now fast forward & 7 months has passed & I have dived into yoga, meditation .
Time to go see surgeon to book my back surgery.
I entered the office a different person then he had seen a year ago.I was moving my head,walking with head held higher & feeling really good.
After examination he asks me what I have been doing.I responded YOGA.
“The two top things to heal the spine Darlene is Yoga & Swimming”. he stated.”I will not be doing surgery on you.”
Can’t begin to even describe the feeling that washed over me.
Bottom line,the postures in yoga strenghten the muscles in the back& abs.Essential to the spine to maintain movement.I will be posting all the benefits in later posts.
To Present date – I feel Awesome! NO Panic Attacks for long time!
Feel Motivated-Happy-Aware-Present-Excited to be teaching & taking my course. Never would I have believed I’d be where I am.
